Energy Management For You And Your Business
Today’s post is written by Eleanor Ross, owner of Energy Inspired Living. It’s about managing your energy through out your busy work days. I know I could use this advice for me and my business!
We’ve all heard of time and stress management. All the things we can do to prevent wasting time or allowing time to become something we are always chasing, as there just isn’t enough of it. Stress management…how to prevent and lower stress by engaging in things like meditation, exercise, using our time productively, eating well and generally looking after ourselves. It’s all there and yet so many people forget about the other management, Energy Management! When the management of energy is fully understood and integrated it can completely change the way we think, act and be in our lives, and of course in our business. I first discovered energy management when I was treating people with a healing modality called bio-energy therapy. I would scan their energy field and locate energy blocks, which caused illness and dis-ease. When I was offering feedback I heard myself giving guidance on how to better manage their energy and of course I began listening to my own wisdom.
What is energy management?
Energy management is the art of becoming aware of where our energy is going throughout the day and re-directing that energy to our intended outcome or desire. It is holding our focus by becoming our own energy detective. Our mind gives us huge clues as to where our energy is going as does our body and environment. It is changing the inner you before changing the outer.
“Success is always an inside job.”
A little scenario: I wanted to start my own business as an intuitive coach. Great idea, all I had to do was set up a website, think nice thoughts of a 20 hour week, helping great people who want a great life and I would have a great life also. Two weeks later I’m sitting at my laptop with a head full of swirling thoughts, most of them fearful and not knowing what to do next. At this point I completely forgot my own energy management and started freaking out! I didn’t know what I was doing, I couldn’t do what others could do, I’m making all of this up and so it went on. By the end of another day of living in the energy of all of this I was exhausted, had zero confidence, was aching and despondent. I will be honest; this went on for a while until I began to manage my energy consciously throughout the day.
Management Tool 1
I had to start small and start somewhere and that place was me. Slowly I could move my energy into a higher vibrational rate than it had been so I began scripting my day. I had got to the stage of waking in the mornings with that feeling of dread, knowing, (or rather convincing myself) it was going to be another crap one. I began by setting my intention for the day, intentions on how I wanted to feel. I wanted to feel light, joyful, creative and tapped into my intuition. I did this for one week every morning and in the evening I would write down what I had achieved from this state of mind. By the end of the week I had written blog posts and joined a couple of blogging groups, way more than I had done in the previous weeks.

I then upped my scripting to adding what I needed help with and how this would make me feel. I began to feel in control, I began to generate creative ideas and I began to feel excited as my energy was now being re-directed to what I wanted to experience, it was not swirling causing me to feel, yukky. I still had my moments but I had it covered! Read on!
Management Tool 3
I had read something by Noah St John about using afformations rather than affirmations. Afformations are a tool which activate our own creative responses. Afformations such as ‘Why am I so Successful?’ ‘Why am I so confident?’ ‘Why am I so supported?’ Those afformations again shifted my energies into answering my questions with creative solutions, which may have been hanging around in the ether, and unless I had arms that could reach way up there then I may never have found them.
Management Tool 4
By this point I was beginning to move into a more intuitive and creative place and it was wonderful. I was, at this point though working without a plan based on my vision. I wanted a plan that would give me the best Return on Energy invested rather than return on time, as I wanted to stay as close to my goal of managing my energy as I could day to day. Begin with a sheet of paper and write down all the things you want for your business in the next 6 months. Is there a certain amount of money you would like, a specific amount of clients or new joint venture partners? Whatever it is, write it down. Now, begin to think how you will feel when you see all of those things coming into your experience. How will building new connections make you feel, x amount of client and so on. You now have your 6-month vision, which can then become an Inspired Action Plan (IAP).
To create a manageable IAP look at the vision and determine what needs to be completed first and any help you will need. You may have something that looks like a list at this point but it is inspired actions! From each action, again remind yourself of how you want to feel while completing the actions…write them down alongside. Break this down further into weekly-inspired actions, again writing down how you want to feel, remember the Return On Energy (ROE) here. At this point don’t get hung up on time, we will look at this later. Then move into daily-inspired actions, what do you want to accomplish on the outer and the inner on a daily basis?
Ok, so now there are daily-inspired actions, this is the outer. For your inner work, look at your inspired actions and begin scripting your day. How do you want to feel today? What are your inspired actions? How are you going to feel when you complete your inspired actions? Do you need any help today? Ask for guidance if you need it.

Guidance is different for everyone so for our energy management we will look at becoming our own CEO. If you were the CEO of a team how would you BE? Would you be understanding, attentive, creative, a listener an inspiration? Of course you would so BE that to yourself in every moment. Many people sit at their desk or home office, particularly solo entrepreneurs work until they feel drained, stressed and exhausted. They focus on the business and forget about themselves. To support yourself fully within your business try working for 90 minutes on an action then stop and tune in to your body. Do you need to drink something? Do you need to move around? Are you being nudged to get some fresh air? If you do have a feeling or nudge to do something then listen and do it. If you ignore those nudges then your body will move into resistance and create other ways of getting you to listen! This is all part of energy management, following the voice of your body and soul. Nurture yourself as you would nurture the best performing team you could wish for.
Management Tool 6
In any business we all need clients right? Do you want just any client or do you want your ideal client? I’m guessing ideal. This is a great way of managing the energy of your business. Take time to get to know who your ideal clients are. How do you want to feel when working with your clients? Are your clients a specific gender? What do like about them? What are they looking for, what problem do you solve for them? Dig deep with this one, write a list of their qualities, after all your marketing will be connecting with them. This will build passion for your business, help you understand them more and attract them to you more easily.
Time
Time is moving at the same rate for all of us regardless of where or who we are yet some of us just feel we do not have enough of it. To activate a new perspective of time stay tuned in to how you feel about what you do, not only on what you have to do. Remember that by raising your vibration with the energy management tools you will be moving closer to your big vision rather than staring at the clock wondering where time has gone. Keep noticing how you feel, if you feel slightly low in vibration, take ten minutes to nurture yourself in whatever way feels good.
By engaging in energy management on a daily basis you will release time constraints, reduce stress and overwhelm and stay connected to your vision.
